Sounds great, doesn’t it? Well, it comes at a cost. AI is generating homogenous artifacts copying works of artists who have poured their heart and soul into their creations. As a result you get uniform styles. And AI requires immense amounts of energy (electricity and water to cool down the processors). Furthermore, it is now widely known that AI is being used by militaries in warzones.

In the end, design and AI are tools we use to achive our goals. Every person choses how they use their time, skills and knowledge. We all decide what change we want to create and how we go about it.

But it is not just an ethical question! Art and design derives from cultural context. Creative expression is a human trait of sharing experiences and emotions. It is a visual language that enhances communication. We tell stories. Design can inspire us. It can even move us to take action.
